The S.S.L. International plant at Peterlee in Co Durham produces a range of liquid and cream Pharmaceutical products including surgical scrubs.
The scrubs manufacturing system, delivered by Datastor Systems, blends and mixes a range of liquid and pre-weighed dry materials before delivering a batch to product storage and then onwards to filling lines. The production process involves the control of eight mixing vessels producing products from recipes containing both material quantities and process steps. The system also controls the CIP sequences used to clean the plant and the interlocking required to separate CIP operations from production. The weight of materials previously weighed at the site dispensary’s hand weigh stations needs to be verified at its point of use. To achieve this each weighed material is bar code labelled as it is completed. The bar code identifies the works order, material no and material lot number for traceability purposes.
