When a global Tea manufacturer required new fully automated plant control systems for their sites in the north of England and Georgia USA they knew that no one knows tea like the Brits, particularly the software engineers here at Datastor.
The 2 plants consist of bulk storage warehouses, blending processes, finished blend storage through to final packaging, the entire process require automated and management of manual works.
The preferred solution was an Allen Bradley Factory Talk View SCADA, CompactLogix PLC’s & Powerflex variable speed drives, blend data is acquired via integration with the clients global i21 ERP system allowing both material requirements and finished blend routing to be scheduled in advance. Operators then collect assemble the blend kits consisting of various sacks of tea from the warehouse prior to loading the infeed conveyor, from here the automation commences and blends the teas together prior to transferring the finished blend to the storage silos checking the weights and inclusion at every step of the process to ensure the perfect cuppa every time.
